Julie Wosk’s exciting book ALLURING ANDROIDS, ROBOT WOMEN, AND ELECTRONIC EVES is the first book of its kind and introduces the world of female robots and androids in film, photography, art, and the work of today's robot-makers and video game designers. It is based on her exhibit held at the New York Hall of Science and the Cooper Union School of Engineering Gallery in New York.


Dr. Wosk's lecture on her book was recently featured on New York television's Channel Thirteen Forum.

Julie Wosk is Professor of art history, English, and studio painting at the State University of New York, Maritime College is also currently writing another . book on women androids and robots for next year. and is also the author of WOMEN AND THE MACHINE: REPRESENTATIONS FROM THE SPINNING WHEEL TO THE ELECTRONIC AGE (The Johns Hopkins University Press, 2001, paper 2003) and BREAKING FRAME: TECHNOLOGY AND THE VISUAL ARTS IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY (Rutgers University Press, 1992), reprint forthcoming.

She is also the curator of the traveling exhibit of digital images, "Alluring Androids, Robot Women, and Electronic Eve" which was first presented at the New York Hall of Science. This exhibit, which inspired her new book, is available on loan to museums and gallery spaces.
